Itinerary!

Woohoo! I've come up with the (tentative) plan:

September 1-15: Recover from jet lag on the Ghana Cape Coast
September 15-October 1st: Attempt to climb Kilimanjaro???? Once I get halfway up and realize what a bad idea that is, I'll come back down and see some cool animals in the Serengeti during the wildebeest migration.
October 2-23: See Egypt, Lebanon, and that Indiana Jones Holy Grail temple in Jordan (Petra)
October 23-November 30: Spend Diwali setting off firecrackers in Bombay/Mumbai, then hit the hills for an introduction to Hindu philosophy at an ashram, then by overnighter train to Rajasthan for some tiger tracking and sightseeing. A visit to the Taj Mahal, then off the the Himalayas to see the source of the Ganges at Varanasi.
December 1-15: Kick back in Thailand. Eat delicious Thai food, get twisted into a pretzel by a Thai masseuse, and make a side trip to Cambodia to see Angkor wat. Maybe take a boat and float down the Mekong while I'm "in the neighborhood." There will definitely be elephants involved somewhere here...
December 15-31: China. Freeze my caboose while visiting the Forbidden City, the Terra Cotta Warriors and the Great Wall. Then go indoors, wrap up in a blanket, and gorge myself on hot noodles to thaw out.
January 1-15: Wrap up my whirlwind tour by staying in a pod hotel in Tokyo, visiting Kyoto, staying in traditional Ryokan and Minshuku guest houses, paying my respects at Hiroshima, and then unwinding from it all by soaking in a natural mineral hot spring (onsen) before getting on the plane to go home.

I've built in almost two weeks of padding so if I really love someplace, I can stick around a couple extra days and not feel guilty about it (I love the flexibility of the RTW ticket!!)

Next step: get visas and shots!
